Oil Pressure Warning Light Test

The low oil pressure warning light should light when ignition key is turned on, and go out shortly thereafter. The light should also come on if oil pressure drops below a safe level.
To test system, turn ignition key on. If lamp fails to light check for broken or disconnected wire at oil pressure switch (located at front of engine). If wire is okay, remove connector from switch.
Using a jumper wire, ground connector to engine. With ignition turned on light should come on. If not, check for burned out bulb or disconnected socket in cluster.
To test switch, remove switch connector. Attach positive lead of ohmmeter to switch blade and negative lead to engine ground. With engine off, there should be continuity shown. With engine running, ohmmeter should show no continuity. If results differ, replace switch.
