Temperature Gauge

NOTE: When performing this test, DO NOT  connect sending wire directly to ground.
  1. Unplug coolant temperature sending unit wire at sending unit. Connect a 104 ohm resistor between wire and ground. Gauge should register to the 5th block of the 10 block scale. This will indicate about 158°F (70°C).
  2. If gauge tests okay, remove sending unit and place in hot water. The unit should be placed so that the sensing area is .12" (3 mm) from the surface of the water. Resistance should be 104 ohms at 158°F (70°C).
