Timing Belts & Sprockets (2.0L): Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC of compression stroke. Remove crankshaft and water pump pulleys. Remove upper and lower front timing belt covers.
- Relieve camshaft timing belt tensioner pressure and secure tensioner toward water pump. If camshaft timing belt is to be reused, mark belt with an arrow indicating direction of rotation and remove belt.
- Remove camshaft and crankshaft sprocket bolts. Remove camshaft sprocket, crankshaft sprocket and crankshaft flange. Remove plug on left side of cylinder block. Insert a screwdriver to keep left silent shaft in position.
- Remove oil pump sprocket. Loosen right silent shaft sprocket mounting bolt until it can be turned by hand. Remove belt tensioner "B" and timing belt "B". Remove crankshaft sprocket "B" from crankshaft.
