Engine Identification

NOTE: For engine repair procedures not covered in this article, see ENGINE OVERHAUL PROCEDURES - GENERAL INFORMATION article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.

Engine model code and serial number are stamped on right side of engine block, just below No. 1 spark plug on 2.6L engines and above engine oil dipstick on 2.0L engines.

Eighth digit of Vehicle Identification Number, located on upper left side of instrument panel, can also be used to identify vehicle's engine size. Engine model and VIN codes are listed in table.
