Removal (Challenger & Sapporo)
- Disconnect negative battery cable, and remove engine undercover and hood. Drain coolant and transmission fluid. Remove air cleaner and disconnect necessary vacuum hoses.
- Detach accelerator cable from carburetor and disconnect wiring from: coil, alternator, starter, gauges and switches. Disconnect radiator and heater hoses, fuel lines, and brake booster vacuum hoses.
- If equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect oil cooler lines. Detach power steering pump, and without bending hoses, suspend with wire. Remove lower radiator shroud. Remove radiator attaching bolts, and remove radiator. Mark mating flanges, remove flange bolts and remove drive shaft.
- If equipped with manual transmission, disconnect clutch cable or shift lever. Lower transmission and remove shifter assembly. If equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect control rod. On all models, disconnect speedometer cable and back-up light switch.
- Remove front exhaust pipe-to-rear catalytic converter bolts. Support transmission and remove rear engine support bracket and insulator. Remove both engine support brackets and insulators. Attach lifting cables. With front of engine tilted upward, remove engine-transmission assembly.
