Removal (4WD Diesel Pickup)
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove brake drum. Remove shoe return spring, shoe retainer spring and shoe hold-down pin.
- Remove shoe and lining assembly and shoe and lever assembly. Remove cable from parking lever. Remove brake tube from wheel cylinder and wheel cylinder from backing plate.
- Remove backing plate together with axle shaft, but do not remove backing plate unless absolutely necessary.
