Disc & Drum: Description
Brake system is hydraulically-operated using a master cylinder with a single reservoir and 2 outlets, a vacuum power brake unit, and a proportioning valve (or combination valve) to control braking action. All brake systems are self-adjusting.
Colt models are equipped with pin caliper type front disc brakes. Challenger, Sapporo, and Colt/Ram-50 Pickups are equipped with sliding caliper type front disc brakes.
All 2WD Pickups and 4WD gasoline-powered Pickups use duo-servo type drum brakes. All other models with rear drum brakes use the leading/trailing shoe design. The parking brake cable actuates the rear drum brakes.
Rear disc brakes are available as an option on Challenger and Sapporo models.
