Parking Brake Adjustment: Pickups

  1. Service brake adjustment must be accurate before making parking brake adjustment. Fully release parking brake and allow slack in rear cable to prevent brake shoe drag.
  2. Adjust turnbuckle for RWD models and turn adjusting nut on equalizer for 4WD models, to obtain a brake lever stroke of 16-17 notches with a 66 lb. (30 kg) setting force.
  3. On 2WD models, balancer must be parallel with center line of vehicle. On 4WD models, the equalizing joint must be at right angles to each other.
