Neutral Safety Switch

Switch is located under console box on cars with automatic transmission. Provides for starting with selector lever in "Park" or "N" position only, and completes backup light circuit in "R" position. If removal required, console box must be removed first with selector lever in "L" position. Disconnect control rod and remove selector lever assembly from car. Disconnect handle from lever, loosen indicator panel screw, then draw out panel, slider, and light holder. Remove switch and check for starter circuit continuity in park and neutral positions, backup light circuit continuity in reverse position only. Assure that switch and selector positions line up when in "N" position during reinstallation.
