Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR.
  3. Remove the right and the left instrument panel (I/P) access hole covers. Refer to Instrument Panel (IP) Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the I/P insulators. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right  and to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left .
  5. Remove the front carpet retainers. Refer to CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT - FRONT .
  6. Remove the windshield upper garnish moldings. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR .
  7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (IP) Upper .
  8. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor .
  9. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the data link connector.

  11. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  12. Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  13. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to HOOD LATCH RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT .
  14. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - IP Cluster .
  15. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  16. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - IP Accessory .
  17. Remove the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
  18. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY in HVAC Systems - Automatic and HVAC MODULE ASSEMBLY in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  19. Remove the I/P lighter. Refer to Cigar Lighter Replacement - IP .
  20. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement .
  21. Remove the hazard warning and cruise control switch. Refer to Hazard Warning and Cruise Control Switch Replacement .
  22. Remove the switch bank. Refer to IP Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement .
  23. Remove the air temperature sensor. Refer to INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  24. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - IP .
  25. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to IP Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  26. Reposition the fuse block.
  27. Remove the driver side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.

  28. Remove the passenger side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.

  29. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts from the cluster pocket.
  30. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts near the windshield.
  31. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
  32. Remove the I/P trim pad from the vehicle.
