Test P: High Beam Indicator Inoperative

  1. If lighting system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If light system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform lighting system diagnostic system check. See LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Place headlight switch in HEAD position. Place headlight dimmer switch in HIGH position. Observe high beam indicator. If high beam indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If high beam indicator illuminates, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  .
  3. If high beams illuminate, go to next step. If headlights do not illuminate, repair headlights as necessary See appropriate HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
  4. Test Pink wire between headlight switch harness connector and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector terminal B2 for open or high resistance. See Figure . If open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  6. Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
