Test X: PCS Indicator Always On
- If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ABS diagnostic system check. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Ensure Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) ground connections are clean and tight. Ground connections are located in left side of engine compartment, at base of left strut tower and below instrument panel, left side of steering column. See appropriate GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If ground connections are clean and tight, go to next step. If ground connections are not clean and tight, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Using scan tool, observe PCS WARNING INDICATOR parameter in ABS/TCS/PCS/VSES data list. If scan tool displays OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Observe PCS indicator. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If PCS indicator illuminates during bulb check and then turn off, go to next step. If PCS indicator does not illuminate during bulb check and then turn off, go to step 6 .
- Check for poor connections at Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . If poor connections are not found, go to step 7 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor connections at Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If poor connections are not found, go to step 8 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
