Brake Warning System Diagnostic System Check
NOTE:
Reviewing system description and operation information will help determine if condition described by customer is normal operation, and may help determine correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists.
- If BRAKE indicator description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step. If description and operation has not been reviewed, see BRAKE INDICATOR under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure brake fluid reservoir is full. Release park brake. Turn ignition on, with engine off. BRAKE indicator should turn on for about 3 seconds, then go off. If BRAKE indicator operates as specified, go to next step. If BRAKE indicator does not operate as specified, repair by symptom. Go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ALWAYS ON or BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE test under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Depress park brake pedal. Release park brake. BRAKE indicator should only be on when park brake pedal is applied. If BRAKE indicator does not operate as specified, go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ALWAYS ON or BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
