DTC B0608: Power MODING Error: Testing

  1. If Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If IPC system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform IPC system diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe IGN 0 and IGN 1 parameters in IPC data list. If scan tool displays ON for both parameters, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ON for both parameters, go to step  5 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe CRANK parameter in IPC data list. If scan tool displays NO, go to next step. If scan tool does not display NO, go to step  7 .
  4. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Using scan tool, observe IGN 1 parameter in IPC data list. If scan tool displays OFF, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . If scan tool does not display OFF, go to step  7 .
  5. Test Purple wire (IGN 0 circuit) between instrument panel fuse block and IPC harness connector terminal A2, and Pink wire (IGN 1 circuit) between instrument panel fuse block and IPC harness connector terminal A5 for high resistance, open or short to ground. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If high resistance, open or short to ground is not found, go to step  8 . If high resistance, open or short to ground is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 .

  6. Test Purple wire (CRANK circuit) between instrument panel fuse block and IPC harness connector terminal A6 for short to voltage. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If short to voltage is not found, go to step  8 . If short to voltage is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 .
  7. Test Pink wire (IGN 1 circuit) between instrument panel fuse block and IPC harness connector terminal A5 for short to voltage. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If short to voltage is not found, go to next step. If short to voltage is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 .
  8. Check for poor connections at IPC. If poor connections are not found, go to next step. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  10. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect any disconnected components and harness connectors. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
