Test K: Cruise Indicator Inoperative

  1. If cruise control system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If cruise control system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform cruise control diagnostic system check. See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Operate vehicle using cruise control. If cruise control operates correctly, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate correctly, diagnose cruise control problem. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
  3. Using scan tool, command CRUISE LAMP on and off. If cruise indicator light responds correctly, perform powertrain control system diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If cruise indicator light does not respond correctly, go to next step.
  4. Replace instrument panel cluster. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. After repair, check system for normal operation. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
