Test F: Change Oil Indicator Inoperative

  1. If Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If IPC system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform IPC system diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Using scan tool, observe ENGINE OIL LIFE REMAINING parameter in PCM ENGINE 2 data list. If scan tool displays zero percent, go to next step. If scan tool does not display zero percent, system is okay.
  3. Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  4. Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
