Test B: Anti-Lock Brake System Indicator Inoperative
- If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ABS diagnostic system check. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Using scan tool in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, attempt to turn on ANTI-LOCK indicator. If ANTI-LOCK indicator turns on, go to next step. If ANTI-LOCK indicator does not turn on, go to step 4 .
- Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ANTI-LOCK indicator bulb socket counterclockwise. Remove bulb from socket by pulling straight out and check condition of bulb. If bulb is okay, go to step 6 . If bulb is faulty, go to next step.
- Replace ANTI-LOCK indicator bulb. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Replace IPC. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
