Test B: Anti-Lock Brake System Indicator Inoperative

  1. If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ABS diagnostic system check. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Using scan tool in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, attempt to turn on ANTI-LOCK indicator. If ANTI-LOCK indicator turns on, go to next step. If ANTI-LOCK indicator does not turn on, go to step  4 .
  3. Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  4. Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ANTI-LOCK indicator bulb socket counterclockwise. Remove bulb from socket by pulling straight out and check condition of bulb. If bulb is okay, go to step  6 . If bulb is faulty, go to next step.
  5. Replace ANTI-LOCK indicator bulb. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  6. Replace IPC. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
