CHANGE OIL Indicator

IPC illuminates CHANGE OIL indicator when one of the following occurs:

• Powertrain Control Module (PCM) determines that engine oil should be changed. IPC receives a class 2 message from PCM requesting illumination. Once oil is changed, perform engine oil monitor reset procedure. See CHANGE OIL INDICATOR RESETTING  under PROGRAMMING.
• IPC performs displays test at start of each ignition cycle. Indicator illuminates for about 3 seconds.
