Lights On Chime On With Ignition In On Position

NOTE: Perform this test if the BCM sounds the headlight-on reminder chime when the driver's door is closed or the headlight switch is in OFF position.
  1. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. Go to next step.
  2. Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off. Turn ignition on and lower driver's window. Ensure all doors are closed. If courtesy lights are off when doors are closed, go to next step. If courtesy lights are on when doors are closed, go to step  7 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on and monitor PARK-LAMP-OFF input status. While observing scan tool, turn headlight switch to HEAD position and back to off. If scan tool indicates PARK-LAMP-OFF status as ON in HEAD position, go to step  8 . If scan tool does not indicate PARK-LAMP-OFF status as ON in HEAD position, go to next step.
  4. Turn headlight switch to off. Disconnect BCM connector C3. Connect test light between BCM connector C3 terminal A2 (Light Blue wire) and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light comes on, go to step  8 . If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect in-line connector C201 located between BCM and headlight switch on right side of steering column. Connect test light between C201 terminal "Z" (Orange wire, male side of connector) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  9 .
  6. Using DVOM, measure resistance between connector C3 terminal A2 and C201 terminal "T" (Light Blue wire, male side of connector). If reading is less than 2 ohms, go to step  10 . If reading is greater than 2 ohms, go to step  11 .
  7. Headlight-on reminder is inoperative due to malfunction between BCM and driver's door lock ajar switch. Repair circuit as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  8. Replace and reprogram BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  9. Repair open circuit or poor connection between headlight switch (Light Blue wire) and PARK LAMP fuse (Orange wire at underhood accessory junction block). After repairs, go to step  12 .
  10. Check for poor connections at in-line connector C201. If connections are okay, replace headlight switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  11. Repair open circuit or poor connection between BCM connector C3 terminal A2 (Light Blue wire), in-line connector C201, and Dark Green wire at headlight switch. After repairs, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and check for BCM DTCs. If BCM DTCs are present, go to appropriate DTC diagnosis and repair procedure in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. If no BCM DTCs are present, system is okay.
