Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Apply parking brake. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Select BCM DATA and monitor parking brake switch input. If scan tool display indicates that parking brake is applied, go to step 9 . If display is not as indicated, go to next step.
- Disconnect parking brake switch electrical connector. Using a fused jumper wire, connect parking brake switch wire to ground. If scan tool display indicates that parking brake is applied, go to next step. If display is not as indicated, go to step 5 .
- Replace parking brake switch. Go to step 8 .
- Using DVOM, check for open circuit in Light Blue wire between parking brake switch terminal A and BCM connector C2 terminal A2. If wire has an open circuit, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step 7 .
- Repair open circuit in Light Blue wire between parking brake switch terminal "A" and BCM connector C2 terminal A2. Go to step 8 .
- BCM is causing BRAKE light malfunction. Perform BCM diagnostic system check. Go to BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition to OFF position. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 8 .
