Low Coolant Level Indicator Inoperative
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on and leave engine off. Select LOW COOLANT level parameter in Instrument Panel Cluster data list. If scan tool display indicates LOW, go to next step. If scan tool display is not as specified, problem is intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module electrical connector. Using a fused jumper wire, connect Yellow/Black wire to ground. If scan tool display indicates LOW, go to step 5 . If display is not as indicated, go to next step.
- Remove instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, check for open circuit in Yellow/Black wire between engine coolant level indicator module electrical connector terminal "A" and instrument panel cluster terminal B4. See Figure . Repair circuit as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problems were found, go to step 7 .
- Using DVOM, check for open circuit in Black wire between engine coolant level indicator module electrical connector terminal "B" and ground connection G203. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Repair circuit as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problems were found, go to next step.
- Inspect engine coolant level indicator module harness connector for corroded or poor connections. Repair connections as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problems were found, go to step 8 .
- Inspect instrument panel cluster harness connector for corroded or poor connections. Repair connections as necessary and go to step 10 . If no problems were found, go to step 9 .
- Replace engine coolant level indicator module. See ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL INDICATOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 10 .
- Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER . Go to next step.
- Verify system operation to confirm repair. If LOW COOLANT indictor is still on, go back to step 2 .
