Check Coolant Temperature Message Always On
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Verify that CHECK COOLANT TEMP indicator is always on. If indicator is on, go to next step. If indicator is not on, problem is intermittent.
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Select ENGINE DATA 2, and observe monitored coolant temperature. If scan tool display indicates the same temperature range as temperature gauge, go to next step. If scan tool display does not indicate the same temperature range as temperature gauge, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- On scan tool, select INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DATA, and command CHECK COOLANT TEMP indicator ON. If indicator turns on and off when commanded, check and repair engine overheating condition. If indicator does not turn on and off when commanded, go to next step.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Recheck operation of system to confirm repair. If problem is still present, go back to step 3 .
