Removal (2000 Century, Regal)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove throttle body air inlet duct. Apply parking brake, and place transaxle in Neutral. Remove engine mount strut bolts, and swing engine mount struts aside. Install Engine Tilt Strap (J 41131), and rotate engine forward for component access.
  2. Remove master cylinder mounting nuts. Unbolt modulator from shock tower, and disconnect electrical connection. Remove vacuum hose from brake booster. Remove left instrument panel insulator, and remove brake booster pushrod from brake pedal.
  3. Attach Power Brake Booster Holder (J 22805-01) onto booster using master cylinder nuts, and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m). See Figure. Unlock booster from front of dash. Use flat screwdriver to pry booster locking tab out of locking notch on mounting flange, while turning booster counterclockwise with wrench on brake booster holder. Carefully remove booster.
