Test N: Low Traction Indicator Always On (1999 Lumina & 1999 Monte CARLO)

  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Observe ABS active (LOW TRAC) indicator. Turn ignition off. If LOW TRAC indicator remains illuminated, go to next step. If LOW TRAC indicator does not remain illuminated, go to step  4.
  3. Repair short to voltage in ABS active indicator control circuit (Light Green wire) between EBCM and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Check EBCM/EBTCM connectors and terminals for poor terminal contact, corrosion or damage. See EBCM/EBTCM LOCATION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check instrument panel connectors and terminals for poor terminal contact, corrosion or damage. If connectors and terminals are faulty, go to next step. If connectors and terminals are okay, go to step  6.
  5. Repair or replace faulty terminals. After repair, reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position, with engine off. LOW TRAC indicator should illuminate for approximately 3 seconds and then go out. If LOW TRAC indicator operates as specified, repair is complete. If LOW TRAC indicator does not operate as specified, go to next step.
  6. Replace EBCM. After repair, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
