Removal & Installation (Front - 1998 "W" Body)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove axle shaft nut. Remove brake caliper and rotor. Disconnect front wheel speed sensor electrical connector. Remove hub/bearing assembly bolts. Using Front Hub Spindle Remover (J-28733), remove hub/bearing assembly from knuckle. Using a blunt screwdriver, pry wheel speed sensor with pigtail from hub/bearing assembly. See Figure. DO NOT reuse wheel speed sensor.
  2. Thoroughly clean mating surfaces of wheel speed sensor and hub/bearing assembly. Apply Loctite No. 620 to mating surface of NEW wheel speed sensor. Using J-38764 with arbor press, press wheel speed sensor onto hub/bearing assembly. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
