DTC C1344: Left TCS Channel Will Not Move (Century & Regal)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Check 4-pin TCS motor pack connector and 8-pin EBTCM connector C3 for proper wire color/connector cavity combination. If wires are properly located in connector cavities, go to next step. If wires are not properly located in connector cavities, go to step 11) .
- Raise and support vehicle so that drive wheels are about 6 inches off the ground. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Pump brake pedal until firm to deplete brake booster vacuum reservoir. Install scan tool. Using scan tool, select MISC TESTS, and then select MANUAL CONTROL. Ensure no downward pressure exists on brake pedal. Using scan tool, select left TCS MOTOR RELEASE, and release left TCS motor. Attempt to rotate left wheel by hand. If left wheel rotates, go to next step. If left wheel does not rotate, go to step 5) .
- Ensure no downward pressure exists on brake pedal. Using scan tool, select left TCS MOTOR APPLY, and apply left TCS motor. Attempt to rotate left wheel by hand. If left wheel rotates, go to next step. If left wheel does not rotate, go to step 17) .
- Ensure no downward pressure exists on brake pedal. Using scan tool, select left TCS MOTOR RELEASE, and release left TCS motor. Observe left TCS motor commanded current and left TCS motor feedback current. If feedback current was equal to or less than 8 amps, go to step 10) . If feedback current was greater than 8 amps, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, exit MANUAL CONTROL. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-pin TCS motor pack connector. Disconnect 8-pin EBTCM connector C3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals "G" (Dark Blue wire) and "H" (Light Blue wire) of EBTCM connector C3. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go to step 12) .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals "A" (Light Blue wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire) of motor pack connector (component side). If resistance is .2 ohm or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than .2 ohm, go to step 13) .
- Check 4-pin TCS motor pack connector and harness connector, and 8-pin EBTCM connector C3 and harness connector for poor terminal contact, corrosion or damage. If connectors are faulty, go to step 15) . If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect EBTCM connector C3. Reconnect 4-pin TCS motor pack connector. Start engine without pressing brake pedal. Start engine and test drive vehicle obtaining speed of at least 10 MPH. Stop vehicle and turn ignition off. Repeat drive cycle sequence 2 more times. Using scan tool, display DTCs. If DTC C1344 is set in last 3 drive cycles, go to step 16) . If DTC C1344 is not set in last 3 drive cycles, go to step 17) .
- Turn ignition off. Remove TCS modulator/motor pack assembly from vehicle. See TCS MODULATOR/MOTOR PACK ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Separate modulator from motor pack. Grasp left modulator gear and attempt to rotate gear. Left gear is furthest rearward gear when modulator is installed in vehicle. If gear can be rotated 7 full revolutions lock to lock, go to step 13) . If gear cannot be rotated 7 full revolutions lock to lock, go to step 14) .
- Disconnect 4-pin TCS motor pack connector. Disconnect 8-pin EBTCM connector C3. Position proper wires into proper connector cavities. After repairs, go to step 9) .
- Repair short between Light Blue wire and Dark Blue wire.
- Replace motor pack.
- Replace modulator.
- Replace all faulty terminals or connectors.
- Replace EBTCM.
- Malfunction is not currently present. An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. Frequency of malfunction can be determined by using enhanced diagnostic function of scan tool. Check for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal-to-wiring connections, or damaged wiring harness.
