DTC C1275: Serial Data Malfunction (Century & Regal)

  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with same system on a different vehicle. If communication can be established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to step 10)  .
  3. Turn ignition off. Check Data Link Connector (DLC) for poor terminal contact, corrosion or damage. If connector is faulty, go to step 7)  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Install scan tool. Display DTCs. If DTCs U1255, U1300 or U1301 are set, see appropriate DTC diagnosis. If no DTCs are set, go to next step.
  5. Perform powertrain OBD system check. After check is performed, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Reconnect scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with PCM. If communication can be established, go to step 9)  . If communication cannot be established, go to step 8)  .
  7. Replace all faulty terminals or connectors.
  8. Replace EBCM/EBTCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE/ ELECTRONIC BRAKE & TRACTION CONTROL MODULE (EBCM/EBTCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  9. Malfunction is not currently present. When DTC C1275 is current, no communication can be established with scan tool. When malfunction is removed, DTC C1275 will be stored in system memory.
  10. Inspect scan tool for possible malfunction. Refer to scan tool manual.
