DTC C1252: Left Front Abs Channel In Release Too Long

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Install scan tool. Using scan tool, display DTCs. If any wheel speed sensor DTCs set as current, go to appropriate DTC. If no wheel speed sensor DTCs are set as current, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, select DATA LIST. Test drive vehicle during a steady 35 MPH to zero MPH deceleration while monitoring all wheel speed sensor speeds. If any wheel speed sensors indicate erratic or intermittent operation, go to DTC C1225, C1226, C1227 or C1228. If no wheel speed sensor indicates erratic or intermittent operation, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, select MISC TESTS, and then select MANUAL CONTROL. Using scan tool, select left front ABS MOTOR APPLY, and apply left front ABS motor. Apply firm pressure on brake pedal. Using scan tool, select left front ABS MOTOR RELEASE, and then release left front ABS motor. If brake pedal falls, go to next step. If brake pedal does not fall, go to step 8)  .
  5. Release brake pedal. Using scan tool, select MANUAL CONTROL. Using scan tool, select left front ABS BRAKE SOLENOID VALVE, and command left front solenoid valve on. Apply firm pressure to brake pedal. If brake pedal falls, go to step 7)  . If brake pedal does not fall, go to next step.
  6. Maintain firm pressure on brake pedal. Using scan tool, command left front solenoid valve off. If brake pedal falls, go to step 14)  . If brake pedal does not fall, go to next step.
  7. Release brake pedal. Turn ignition off. Remove left front and right front ABS solenoid valves. Reinstall left front solenoid valve to right front solenoid valve location, and right front solenoid valve to left front solenoid valve location. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, select MANUAL CONTROL. Using scan tool, select left front ABS BRAKE SOLENOID VALVE, and command left front solenoid valve on. Apply firm pressure to brake pedal. If brake pedal falls, go to step 10)  . If brake pedal does not fall, go to step 11)  .
  8. If brake pedal rises, go to step 12)  . If brake pedal does not rise, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, perform GEAR TENSION RELIEF. Turn ignition off. Separate modulator from motor pack. Grasp left front modulator gear and attempt to rotate gear in either direction. Left front gear is furthest forward gear when modulator is installed in vehicle. If gear can be rotated by hand, go to step 13)  . If gear can not be rotated by hand, go to next step.
  10. Replace modulator.
  11. Replace ABS solenoid valve that was originally installed in left front solenoid valve location.
  12. Repaired crossed left front motor high circuit or left front motor low circuit to left front motor pack.
  13. Replace motor pack.
  14. Malfunction is not currently present. An intermittent may be caused by a mechanical system component sticking, binding, or slipping. Frequency of malfunction can be determined by using enhanced diagnostic function of scan tool. DTC C1252 may set during icy condition and steering wheel is turned to lock during braking. Using scan tool, perform hydraulic test to ensure proper brake system function.

Check for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal-to-wiring connections, or damaged wiring harness. After diagnosis is complete, clear DTCs and test drive vehicle for 3 drive cycles to verify DTC does not reset. Drive cycle consists of starting vehicle, driving vehicle faster than 10 MPH, stopping vehicle, and then turning ignition off.
