DTC B2960: PASS-Key(R) II DETECTION CIRCUIT (OUT OF RANGE): Testing

- If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Try to start engine using all ignition keys provided with vehicle. Wait 3 minutes between each attempt to allow PASS-Key(R) II timer sequence to reset. If one of the keys works, go to step 6 . If no keys work, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, check for DTCs B2957, B2958 or B3031. If any of these DTCs exist, go to appropriate DTC test. If none of these DTCs exist, go to next step.
- Perform lock cylinder and harness test. See appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article. After test is complete, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC B2960 is set, go to step 8 . If DTC B2960 is not set, go to step 9 .
- If all ignition keys started the engine, go to step 5 . If any key did not start the engine, go to next step.
- Replace malfunctioning ignition key. Go to step 10 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP under PROGRAMMING. Go to step 10 .
- System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
