DTC B2612: Passenger Compartment Dimming No. 1 Circuit Low: Testing

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Use scan tool to check for current DTCs. If DTC B1344 is also set as current, go to DTC B1344: COURTESY LIGHTS BATTERY FEED CIRCUIT (OPEN)  . If DTC B1344 is not set as current, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connectors C2 and C3. Ensure glove box is closed and all reading and sunshade lights are off . Use DVOM to measure resistance between BCM connector C2 terminal B1 (White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . See Figure . If reading is infinite, go to next step. If reading is other than infinite, go to step  6 .
  4. Connect 10-amp fused jumper between battery positive voltage and BCM connector C3 terminal "F" (Orange wire). Connect 10-amp fused jumper between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal B1 (White wire). If instrument panel courtesy lights come on, go to next step. If instrument panel courtesy lights do not come on, go to step  7 .
  5. Disconnect fused jumpers. Reconnect all disconnected connectors and components. Turn ignition on. Turn dimmer switch to DOME position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC B2612 resets, go to step  8 . If DTC B2612 does not reset, go to step  9 .
  6. Repair short to ground in White wire between BCM and courtesy lights. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  7. Repair poor connection or open in White wire between BCM and courtesy lights. Repair open or poor connection in Orange wire between BCM and courtesy lights. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. Go to step  10 .
  9. System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
  10. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
