DTC B1369: Ignition 0 Fault: Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am and 1999 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Observe IGNITION 0 input on BCM INPUTS data list. If scan tool indicates ACTIVE, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If scan tool does not indicate ACTIVE, go to next step.
  3. Check condition of IPC/BFC ACC fuse (10-amp). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  7 .
  4. Connect test light between IPC/BFC ACC fuse (10-amp) terminals. Turn ignition on. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector C1. Turn ignition on. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  11 .
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IPC connector containing IGNITION 0 voltage signal. Turn ignition on. If test light comes on, go to step  9 . If test light does not come on, go to step  12 .
  7. Remove IPC/BFC ACC fuse (10-amp) from LH instrument panel junction block. Turn ignition on. With test light connected to ground, probe both terminals of IPC/BFC ACC fuse. If test light comes on at one terminal, go to next step. If test light comes on at both terminals, go to step  10 .
  8. Check for open in IGNITION 0 voltage circuit (Purple wire). If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step  15 . If circuit is okay, go to step  13 .
  9. Repair short to ground in Purple wire. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  10. Repair open in ignition feed circuit to IPC/BFC ACC fuse. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  11. Check for poor connections at BCM connector. If connector is repaired, go to step  15 . If connector is okay, go to step  13 .
  12. Check for poor connections at IPC connector. If connector is repaired, go to step  15 . If connector is okay, go to step  14 .
  13. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  14. Replace IPC. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. After repairs, go to next step.
  15. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
