Testing Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Buick Regal and 1999 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step. Be sure to check condition of fuses.
- Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at 10-amp ABS fuse. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, see appropriate diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at ABS Maxi fuse. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, see appropriate diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM connector. Connect pinout box and adapter cable to harness connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between pinout box terminal "D" and ground. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 251A.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM connector. Connect pinout box and adapter cable to harness connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between pinout box terminal "A" and ground then terminal "B" and ground. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to step 8 . If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 1442A or 1442B.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM connector. Connect pinout box and adapter cable to harness connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between pinout box terminal A11 and "D". If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to step 10 . If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 1339.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect EBCM/EBTCM connections, battery connections and ground connections for poor contact or terminal damage. If connection are good, go to next step.
- Replace EBCM/EBTCM.
