Left Turn Signal Indicator Inoperative

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect IPC connector. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. On Alero, with test light connected to ground, backprobe IPC connector terminal B10 (Light Blue/Black wire). On Grand Am, with test light connected to ground, backprobe IPC connector terminal A1 (Light Blue/Black wire). See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . On all models, turn ignition on and turn left turn signal on. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, locate and repair problem in exterior lighting system. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article. Recheck system operation.
  3. Check condition of turn signal bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
