Low Washer Fluid Indicator Inoperative

  1. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator comes on when washer fluid level is okay, go to step  3 . If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator does not come on when washer fluid level is okay, go to next step.
  2. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator does not come on when washer fluid level is low, go to step  8 . If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator comes on when washer fluid level is low, system is okay.
  3. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition on. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator comes on, go to step  5 . If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator does not come on, go to next step.
  4. Replace windshield washer fluid level switch. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  5. Turn ignition off. Leave windshield washer fluid level switch connector disconnected. Disconnect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between IPC connector terminal A10 (Black/White wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If infinite (OL on DVOM) resistance is indicated, go to step  7 . If any resistance is indicated, go to next step.
  6. Repair short to ground in Black/White wire between IPC and windshield washer fluid level switch. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  7. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  8. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between windshield washer fluid level switch connector terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator comes on, go to next step. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator does not come on, go to step  12 .
  9. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between windshield washer fluid level switch connector terminals "A" (Black/White wire) and "B" (Black wire). If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator comes on, go to next step. If LOW WASHER FLUID indicator does not come on, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace windshield washer fluid level switch. After replacing switch, go to step  15 .
  11. Repair poor connection, open or short to voltage in Black wire between windshield washer fluid level switch and ground. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  12. Turn ignition off. Leave jumper wire connected as indicated in step  8 . Disconnect IPC connector. Use DVOM to check resistance between IPC connector terminal A10 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to step  14 .
  13. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  15 .
  14. Repair open or poor connection in Black/White wire between IPC and windshield washer fluid level switch. After repairs, go to next step.
  15. Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and clear all IPC DTCs. Recheck for IPC DTCs. If IPC DTCs are present, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DTC DEFINITIONS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If no IPC DTCs are present, system is okay.
