Check Coolant Level Warning Inoperative (Low Coolant Level Indicator Inoperative)
- If low coolant indicator is on with coolant at proper level, go to step 3 . If low coolant indicator is on with coolant level low, go to next step.
- If low coolant indicator is off with coolant level low, go to step 8 . If low coolant indicator is on with coolant level low, system is okay.
- Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module connector at radiator support. See Figure or Figure . Turn ignition on. If low coolant warning indicator is on, go to step 5 . If low coolant warning indicator is not on, go to next step.
- Replace engine coolant level indicator module. See ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL INDICATOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Turn ignition off. Leave engine coolant level indicator module disconnected. Disconnect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector. Use DVOM to measure resistance between IPC connector terminal B4 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If infinite (OL on DVOM) resistance is indicated, go to step 7 . If any resistance is indicated, go to next step.
- Repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between IPC and engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module connector. Connect 3-amp fused jumper between engine coolant level indicator module connector terminal "B" (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If low coolant indicator comes on, go to next step. If low coolant indicator does not come on, go to step 16 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove fused jumper. Connect 3-amp fused jumper between engine coolant level indicator module connector terminals "B" (Yellow/Black wire) and "C" (Black/White wire). Turn ignition on. If low coolant indicator comes on, go to next step. If low coolant indicator does not come on, go to step 11 .
- Replace engine coolant level indicator module. See ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL INDICATOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Disconnect underhood accessory junction block connector C-1. Check for open or poor connection in Black/White wire between underhood accessory junction block connector terminal A7 and ground. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step 13 .
- Repair open or poor connection in Black/White wire between junction block and ground. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Check for open or poor connection in Black/White wire between underhood accessory junction block connector terminal B3 and engine coolant level indicator module connector terminal "C". If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step 15 .
- Repair open or poor connection in Black/White wire between junction block and engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Replace underhood accessory junction block. After repairs, go to step 18 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With fused jumper still connected, use DVOM to measure resistance between IPC connector terminal B4 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If reading is less than 3 ohms, go to step 7 . If reading is greater than 3 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair open or poor connection in Yellow/Black wire between IPC and engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and clear all IPC DTCs. Recheck for IPC DTCs. If IPC DTCs are present, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DTC DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If no IPC DTCs are present, system is okay.
