On vehicles equipped with DELCO ABS systems, EBTCM is located below left side of instrument panel, left of steering column. On vehicles equipped with BOSCH ABS systems, EBTCM is part of the brake pressure modulator valve mounted to left strut tower. Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator remains on, go to step  5 . If BRAKE indicator turns off, go to step  6 .
  4. Replace brake fluid level switch. After repairs, go to step  19 .
  5. Turn ignition to LOCK position. With brake fluid reservoir level switch and EBTCM disconnected, disconnect parking brake switch connector. Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator remains on, go to step  7 . If BRAKE indicator turns off, go to step  8 .
  6. Perform appropriate ABS diagnostic system check. Go to appropriate ANTI-LOCK BRAKES article in BRAKES. After repairs, go to step  19 .
  7. Turn ignition to LOCK position. With brake fluid reservoir level switch, EBTCM and parking brake switch disconnected, disconnect Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module connector. DRL module is located below left side of instrument panel, left of steering column. Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator remains on, go to step  9 . If BRAKE indicator turns off, go to step  10 .
  8. Replace parking brake switch. After repairs, go to step  19 .
  9. Turn ignition to LOCK position. With brake fluid reservoir level switch, EBTCM, parking brake switch and DRL module disconnected, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. BCM module is located below left side of instrument panel, left of steering column. Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator remains on, go to step  16 . If BRAKE indicator turns off, go to step  13 .
  10. Check for short to ground in Light Blue wire between parking brake switch and DRL module. If circuit is faulty, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  12 .

  15. Perform BCM diagnostic system check. Go to appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repairs, go to step  19 .
  16. With brake fluid reservoir level switch, EBTCM, parking brake switch and DRL module disconnected, check for short to ground in Purple wire between EBTCM, brake fluid reservoir level switch and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If circuit is faulty, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  18 .
  17. Repair short to ground in Purple wire between EBTCM, brake fluid reservoir level switch and IPC. After repairs, go to step  19 .
  18. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
