Low Fuel Warning Always On
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Go to next step.
- Perform POWERTRAIN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - GASOLINE - EXCEPT METRO, PRIZM & TRACKER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on and attempt to establish communications with Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Use scan tool to toggle (WOW) IPC indicators on and off. If LOW FUEL indicator light turns on and off, go to next step. If LOW FUEL indicator light does not turn on and off, go to step 5 .
- Use scan tool to monitor LOW FUEL indicator light status. Turn ignition on. If LOW FUEL indicator status is ACTIVE when light is on, go to POWERTRAIN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - GASOLINE - EXCEPT METRO, PRIZM & TRACKER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If LOW FUEL indicator status is not ACTIVE when light is on, go to next step.
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
