Key-In-Ignition Chime Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform this test if key-in-ignition reminder chime will not sound with driver's door open, key in ignition switch with switch in off or accessory position.
- Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. Go to next step.
- Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off. Turn ignition on and lower driver's window. Ensure all doors are closed. Observe courtesy light operation while opening and closing driver's door. If courtesy lights come on when door is opened and turn off when door is closed, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not come on when door is opened and turn off when door is closed, go to step 9 .
- Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off and all doors are closed. Turn ignition off. Observe courtesy lights while removing key from ignition switch. If courtesy lights come on when key is removed from ignition, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not come on when key is removed from ignition, go to step 6 .
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on and monitor KEY-IN-SWITCH input status. If scan tool indicates status as ACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate status as ACTIVE, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition off and leave key in ignition switch. Open and close driver's door. If BCM sounds the key-in-ignition reminder chime, go to step 14 . If BCM does not sound the key-in-ignition reminder chime, go to step 10 .
- Insert key into ignition switch. Disconnect BCM connector C-1. Connect test light between battery voltage and BCM connector C-1 terminal D1 (Light Green wire). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light comes on, go to step 4 . If test light does not come on, go to next step.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector C-2. Connect test light between battery voltage and ignition switch connector C-2 terminal "E" (Black wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 11 .
- Disconnect BCM connector C-1. Use DVOM to measure resistance between ignition switch harness connector terminal C-1 terminal "B" and BCM connector C-1 terminal D1 (Light Green wire). If reading is less than 2 ohms, go to step 12 . If reading is greater than 2 ohms, go to step 13 .
- Key-in-ignition reminder is inoperative due to malfunction between BCM and driver's door switch. Repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Check for poor connections at BCM connectors. If connection are okay, replace and reprogram BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Repair open or poor connection in Black wire between ignition switch and ground. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH/LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Repair open or poor connection in Light Green wire between BCM and ignition switch. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- System is okay. Recheck operation and go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and check for BCM DTCs. If BCM DTCs are present, go to appropriate DTC diagnosis and repair procedure in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. If no IPC DTCs are present, system is okay.
