Circuit Description

IPC calibrations are stored in Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). When vehicle is first turned on, IPC performs internal tests on EEPROM to determine integrity of its non-volatile memory.

Information in the IPC configuration stored in EEPROM includes model, point of sale, manufacturer, odometer mileage and fuel tank capacity. This configuration information determines how IPC will utilize data from other vehicle systems.

DTC will set when IPC is unsuccessful at 3 consecutive attempts at writing to its own non-volatile memory and detects an internal memory malfunction (write error) when ignition is first turned on. When DTC is set, SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator light will come on.

Under all fault conditions, a current DTC B0600 requires an ignition cycle to become a history code. If conditions for malfunction no longer exist, history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles. DTC will also clear when scan tool is used to clear codes.
