Trouble Shooting
- Check IPC/BFC ACC fuse (10-amp) and IPC/HVAC BATT fuse (10-amp) located in left instrument panel wiring harness junction block. Using scan tool, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If any BFC DTCs exist, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If any PCM DTCs exist, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- If turn signal indicator(s) is inoperative, locate and repair problem in exterior lighting system. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article. If instrument panel illumination lights are inoperative, locate and repair problem in interior lighting system. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator is illuminated, diagnose and repair problem in PCM system. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- If air bag indicator is illuminated continuously with no loss of serial data, use scan tool to monitor Sensing and Diagnosis Module (SDM). If SDM is commanding air bag indicator on, locate and repair problem in air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. If SDM is not commanding air bag indicator on, replace instrument cluster.
- Check for loss of serial data communications between BFC and instrument cluster. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system failure but pass a continuity/voltage check. Check for proper installation of aftermarket equipment.
