DTC P0462: Fuel Sender Sensor Shorted To Ground

  1. Disconnect fuel tank module connector. Using scan tool, check fuel sender resistance on circuit 470. If resistance is 250 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 250 ohms, go to step  8 .
  2. Disconnect left IP wiring harness junction block connector C3. Remove Black/White wire from connector C3 terminal A12. Reconnect harness connector C3. Using scan tool, check fuel sender resistance on circuit 470. If resistance is 250 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 250 ohms, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair short to ground on Black/White wire between fuel tank module and left IP wiring harness junction block. Clear DTC and perform BCM system check.
  4. Disconnect left IP wiring harness junction block Gray harness connector C2. Remove Black wire from connector C2 terminal A1. Reconnect harness connector C2. Using scan tool, check fuel sender resistance on circuit 470. If resistance is 250 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 250 ohms, go to step  7 .
  5. Using DVOM, check continuity between ground and Black wire removed from connector C2 terminal A1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step  8 .
  6. Repair short to ground on Black wire between left IP wiring harness junction block connector C2 terminal A1 and BCM Gray connector C2 terminal A4. Clear DTC and perform BCM system check.
  7. Replace left IP wiring harness junction block. Clear DTC and perform BCM system check.
  8. Replace fuel tank sender. Clear DTC. If DTC returns, replace BCM.
