Hub & Bearing Assembly: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Insert drift in brake rotor to prevent it from turning and remove axle shaft nut and washer. See Figure . Remove caliper and support, and wire aside. Remove rotor. Using Hub Spindle Remover (J-28733-B), separate axle shaft external splines from hub internal splines. See Figure .
  2. Remove 3 bolts from hub and bearing assembly. See Figure . Disconnect ABS speed sensor connector (if equipped) from hub and bearing assembly. Remove hub bearing seal and "O" ring (if equipped).
