Parking Brake Actuator: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels.
  2. Remove rear brake calipers. See BRAKE CALIPERS .
  3. Remove brake rear caliper brackets. See BRAKE CALIPER BRACKETS .
  4. Remove brake rotors. Remove parking brake shoes. See PARKING BRAKE SHOES .
  5. Loosen parking brake cables at equalizer. See Fig 1.

  6. Disconnect parking brake cable from actuator. See Fig 2.

  7. Release parking brake return spring. See Fig 2.
  8. Remove parking brake cable form mounting bracket. See Fig 3.

  9. Remove bracket from support plate. See Fig 2.
  10. Remove parking brake actuator. See Fig 4.

  11. Remove rear wheel hub. Remove mounting bolts from wheel carrier and lift hub off.
  12. Remove parking brake shoes and linings.
