DTC C1278: Right Front Solenoid Circuit Open Or Shorted To Ground

  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between right front solenoid control circuit of EBCM connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go to step 4).
  3. Disconnect right front solenoid valve connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of right front solenoid valve control circuit between right front solenoid valve connector (harness side) and EBCM. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 5). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 9).
  4. Disconnect right front solenoid valve connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between switched battery input circuit of right front solenoid valve connector (harness side) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If resistance is infinite, go to step 8). If resistance is not infinite, go to step 11).
  5. Disconnect EBCM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of switched battery input circuit between right front solenoid valve connector (harness side) and EBCM. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 10).
  6. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals of right front solenoid valve connector (component side). If resistance is 2.5-5.0 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 2.5-5.0 ohms, go to step 11).
  7. Check right front solenoid valve and connectors for poor terminal contact, corrosion or damage. Check right front solenoid valve control circuit for damage which could result in an open or short to ground with connector connected. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. If DTC C1278 sets as current, go to step 12). If DTC C1278 does not set as current, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  8. Repair short to ground in right front solenoid valve control circuit or switched battery input circuit. Also check for an open in right front solenoid valve EVO/ABS SOL fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . After repairs, go to step 6).
  9. Repair open or high resistance in right front solenoid valve control circuit. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  10. Repair open or high resistance in switched battery input circuit. Also check for an open in right front solenoid valve EVO/ABS SOL fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  11. Replace right front solenoid valve. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  12. Replace EBCM. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
