Removal & Installation (Bonneville)

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove AIR BAG fuse from fuse panel. Remove steering column covers. Remove steering column brackets, and lower steering column. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Cover top of steering column to prevent scratch damage.
  2. Remove instrument panel cluster trim plate. Remove instrument panel cluster-to-instrument panel screws. See Fig 1 . Pull right end of cluster rearward. Rotate cluster assembly to face upward. Reach around top or bottom right side of cluster assembly and disconnect cluster electrical connector. Pull bottom of cluster assembly rearward. Rotate cluster assembly to face upward. Disconnect remaining electrical connectors. Slide instrument cluster toward center of vehicle. Remove cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure. After installation, turn ignition on and ensure INFLATABLE RESTRAINT warning light flashes 7-9 times.
