Parking Brake
NOTE:
If brakes have been serviced, adjust parking brake to prevent premature brake wear. Clean and lubricate threaded rod on parking brake adjuster before turning adjuster.
CAUTION:
Parking brake is self-adjusting. Damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify parking brake system in a manner other than specified. System is designed so parking brake pedal goes all the way to floor if depressed with enough force.
- Fully apply and release parking brake 4-6 times to self-adjust parking brake. Apply parking brake. If parking brake performance is questionable, adjust rear brake shoes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES under ADJUSTMENTS .
- Fully apply and release parking brake 4 times. Depress parking brake pedal until 3 ratchet clicks can be heard. Raise and support vehicle. Try to rotate right rear wheel with both hands. Wheel should only rotate backward, not forward. Release parking brake. Ensure wheels do not drag.
