Gauge Indicates Full Test
- Disconnect Purple wire at fuel gauge sender. Connect a fused jumper wire between Purple wire and ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, check Purple wire and connections for an open circuit. If wire and connections are okay, replace instrument cluster.
- If fuel gauge indicates empty, check Black wire for an open circuit. If Black wire is okay, check fuel gauge sender ground. If ground is okay, check for mechanical clearance between fuel gauge sender float and tank interior. If clearance is bad, replace fuel gauge sender.
