Indicator Always On
- Disconnect brake fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Release parking brake. Brake warning indicator should be off. If indicator is off, check hydraulic system. If hydraulic system is okay, replace brake fluid level switch.
- If indicator is on, check circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) for a short to ground. If wire is okay, disconnect parking brake switch connector. Brake warning indicator should be off.
- If indicator is off, check for poor parking brake switch connection. If connection is okay, replace parking brake switch. If indicator is on, check circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) for a short to ground.
- On models with Daytime Running Lights (DRL), if Tan/White wire is okay, go to next step. On models with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), if Tan/White wire is okay, go to step 7). On models without DRL and ABS, if Tan/White wire is okay, go to step 9).
- Disconnect DRL module connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Release parking brake. If brake warning indicator is off, go to next step. If indicator is on, check circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) for a short to ground. If Tan/White wire is okay, replace DRL module.
- Check Tan/White wire and circuit No. 1134 (Light Blue wire) for a short to ground between DRL connector and parking brake switch. Check for poor DRL module connections. If wiring and connections are okay, replace DRL module.
- Disconnect Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Release parking brake. Brake warning indicator should be off.
- If indicator is off, check for poor EBCM connection. If connection is okay, replace EBCM. If indicator is on, check circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) for a short to ground. If wire is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect 48-pin connector (located behind instrument panel, right of steering column). Turn ignition off. Release parking brake. Using DVOM, measure voltage between 48-pin connector terminal B3 (Tan/White wire) and battery positive terminal.
- No voltage should be present. If voltage is present, check for short to ground in steering column. If no short to ground is found, replace ignition switch.
- If no voltage is present, disconnect instrument cluster connector. Check printed circuit and circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) for a short to ground. If wire and printed circuit are okay, replace instrument cluster.
