Temperature Gauge Incorrect Test

  1. Ensure engine does not have an overheating condition. If engine is okay, check if PCM diagnostic code E014, E015 or BCM diagnostic code B450 is set. If ECM or BCM codes are set, repair as required. See TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If no codes are set, go to next step.
  2. Determine coolant temperature using an external gauge. Enter self-diagnostics. See TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Select ECM DATA ED04, and note data display.
  3. If ECM DATA ED04 and actual coolant temperature are not comparable, replace coolant temperature sensor. If ECM DATA ED04 and actual coolant temperature are comparable, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
