Oil Warning Indicator

If lamp remains on when engine is running, check oil level. If oil level is okay, check for short to ground. Turn ignition switch to "Bulb Test". Disconnect oil pressure switch connector.
If indicator comes on, locate short to ground in instrument panel or in Tan wires between instrument panel and oil pressure switch. If oil level is to low, fill crankcase to required level. Check bulb.
If bulb is okay, check for oil leaks. If indicator light is off, check oil pressure using a gauge. If oil pressure is below 4 psi (.28 kg/cm² ), repair cause of low pressure.
If oil pressure is above 4 psi (.28 kg/cm² ), replace oil pressure switch. If lamp fails to come on when starting engine, check fuse to see if other gauges or indicators work. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest.
If fuse is okay, check for burned out bulb and replace as needed. If bulb(s) okay, ground Tan wire at pressure switch. If indicator comes on, replace pressure switch. If indicator stays out, check for open in Tan wires or connector between pressure switch and instrument panel.
